Jack Anthony Clark
B: Nov 10, 1955, New Brighton, PA
A power hitter known as Jack the Ripper, Clark played for five teams over 17 seasons. Prone to injury, he moved from the outfield to first base to lower his risk of injury. In 1985, Clark clinched the National League Championship Series for the Cardinals with a ninth-inning three-run home run. In 1987, his best season and one in which he again led the Cardinals to the World Series, Jack finished third in the MVP vote. A four-time All-Star, Clark won the Silver Slugger Award in 1985 and 1987. In October 2008, Clark was named manager of the Springfield Sliders of the Central Illinois Collegiate League.
