B: Nov 25, 1914, Martinez, CA — D: Mar 8, 1999, Hollywood, FL
Considered by many the best ever to play the game, Joe graces the Baseball Hall of Fame. A three-time MVP, Joe made the All-Star team in each of the 13 seasons that he played, while leading the Yankees to nine World Series. His 56-game hitting streak is a record that may never be broken. A brilliant defensive center fielder with a powerful arm, Joe was also one of the smartest base runners in the game. Born into poverty, Joe signed the first $100,000 contract in baseball and, because of his credibility, had a successful post-baseball career as a product spokesman on television and in print.
