Joseph Vance Ferguson
B: Sep 19, 1946, San Francisco, CA
A strong-armed catcher, Ferguson played for the Dodgers, Cardinals Astros and Angels. He set a major league record for catchers by fielding .996 over a full season, with only 3 errors. He also played the outfield. He led two different Dodger teams to the World Series. Joe was also known for his power hitting. After retiring, Joe coached for Texas and the Dodgers, and then managed in the Dodgers, Orioles and Padres minor league systems. He currently manages the Camden, New Jersey Riversharks in the Atlantic League. The son of an Italian-American mother, Joe is another Italian-American big leaguer from San Francisco.
