Donald Louis Mossi
B: Jan 11, 1929, St. Helena, CA
A San Francisco area big leaguer, Don had pinpoint control and walked few batters. Mossi’s lifetime ERA was an excellent 3.43. A reliever for the 1954 Indians team that won a record 111 games, Don was moved into the Indians starting rotation in 1957 and was named an AL All-Star. Traded to the Tigers, Mossi had consistent success for Detroit until developing arm problems that forced him back to the bullpen. He was eventually traded to the White Sox and finished his career with the Kansas City As. When he retired, Don had the highest ever lifetime fielding average recorded by a pitcher.
